Search teams continue their efforts to locate 16-year-old James Gibbons, reported missing for nearly a week. The teenager was last seen in Cuxton on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
After an extensive review of CCTV footage, authorities have determined that James was captured on video entering an alleyway off Woodhurst Close at 12:52 p.m. From there, he headed towards Cuxton Woods, but he has not been sighted since. Police are now appealing for further information from residents, urging those with private CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward if they may have captured any sightings of James after 1:00 p.m. on the day he disappeared.
James is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair. Notable features include braces on his teeth and a distinctive scar in the shape of a question mark on the right side of the back of his head. At the time he went missing, he was wearing brown tracksuit bottoms, a grey Hollister hoodie, a white shirt with a light brown and blue checkered pattern, black socks, and black material trainers.
Chief Inspector Garry Cook provided an update on the search efforts: “We are continuing our search for James and have a number of specialist teams on the ground, including experts from partner agencies and volunteers from Kent Search and Rescue. We’re particularly focusing on sightings around Cuxton Woods and appealing to locals, including dog walkers, hikers, and horse riders, to stay vigilant and report anything that might help us locate James.”
As the search expands to cover rural and wooded areas, the police are calling on the community to support their efforts. Anyone with potentially helpful information is asked to call 999, quoting reference 09-1043.
