Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in Savernake Forest, near Marlborough.
Body Found in Forest
Officers were called to the woodland at around 8am on Monday, 25 August, after the body of a person was found.
Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and to formally identify the individual. Their next of kin have not yet been traced.
Non-Suspicious at This Stage
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said:
"We are investigating a sudden death after a body was found in Savernake Forest, Marlborough, at around 8am on Monday.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding their death and to identify their next of kin.
This is being treated as a non-suspicious death but as with all investigations of this nature we are keeping an open mind and following all lines of enquiry.
We ask the public and media not to speculate about the case."
Police Presence
An increased police presence will remain in the area over the coming days as the investigation continues.
The death is not currently being treated as suspicious, though detectives said they are "keeping an open mind" until all avenues of enquiry are complete.
