Sainsbury’s, a leading UK supermarket chain, has initiated a voluntary recall of all date codes of its “Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring” in a precautionary move. This action follows the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in some of the products.
The affected product is the 200g pack of Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring with use-by dates ranging from 23 November 2023 up to and including 16 January 2024.
Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium, poses health risks, and symptoms of infection may include flu-like conditions such as high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea. While most cases exhibit mild symptoms, severe complications, including meningitis, can occur in rare instances.
Recognising the potential risks, Sainsbury’s has taken decisive measures to recall the product. Point of sale notices will be prominently displayed in all retail stores where the affected chorizo was sold, providing customers with information about the recall and guiding them on the necessary steps.
Consumers who have purchased the specified chorizo product are strongly advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return the item to the store where it was bought and receive a full refund. Additional information and assistance can be obtained by visiting Sainsbury’s official website at Sainsburys.co.uk/help or by contacting their Careline at 0800 028 8303.
