Two men who were stabbed onboard a 54 bus in Rushey Green, Catford, on Tuesday afternoon (July 1) remain in hospital in stable condition, police have confirmed today.
The knife attack, which took place just before 1:43pm, prompted a significant emergency response and resulted in the cordoning off of Rushey Green as officers conducted on-scene investigations.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“The two victims, both men in their 30s, remain in hospital but are in a stable condition. A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and affray. He remains in police custody.”
Incident Occurred on 54 Bus
Witnesses at the scene confirmed that the violent incident occurred onboard a 54 bus, which was later pictured within the police cordon. One woman who saw the scene unfold told reporters the attack happened as passengers were boarding and travelling along Rushey Green.
Police have not yet disclosed the age or identity of the arrested suspect.
Ongoing Investigation
The Met’s investigation is ongoing, and officers continue to appeal to the public for witnesses or footage of the incident, particularly from bus passengers or bystanders near the Rushey Green/Benton Road area around the time of the attack.
