A 15-year-old girl was reportedly raped on St Edwards Way near Cotleigh Road at around 11.35pm on Friday, June 21, prompting a full-scale police investigation and the establishment of a crime scene.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed today (July 1) that detectives have conducted a “thorough and detailed investigation”, including CCTV reviews, forensic testing, and witness interviews.
In a statement to the Romford Recorder, a Met Police spokesperson said “all lines of enquiry have been explored”, and at this time, “there is no evidence of a wider risk to the community.”
No arrests made – but enquiries remain open
Although no arrests have been made, officers say the case remains under active review and that this decision could change should further information come to light.
“We understand reports of this nature can cause considerable concern,” the spokesperson said. “We want to reassure the community that this matter has been taken extremely seriously.”
