A man has been charged following two thefts at a retail store inside The Liberty Shopping Centre, Romford.
Abdul Saboor, 29, of London Road, Romford, was formally charged on 28 April 2025 with two counts of theft. He has been bailed and is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 16 May 2025.
The charges stem from two separate incidents. On Monday, 28 April, officers from the Romford Town Centre Team were called to a report of a man entering a local store and stealing jewellery. Upon arriving at the scene, officers detained and arrested a 29-year-old man.
Further investigations linked the same suspect to a previous theft at the same store, reported on Monday, 7 April. Following additional enquiries, Abdul Saboor was arrested in connection with that incident as well.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
This prompt arrest highlights the proactive efforts of our town centre team to tackle retail crime and ensure the safety of Romford’s businesses and shoppers.
Officers continue to work closely with retail stores in the Romford area to prevent shoplifting and theft-related incidents.
