Detectives in Edinburgh have launched an appeal for information following a robbery that occurred at the Milton Road West Post Office on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
The incident transpired around 07.20 BST when an unidentified male entered the post office, threatened a male staff member, and demanded money. The assailant fled the premises with a sum of cash, described as a two-figure sum, before making his escape in the direction of Duddingston Park, then heading north toward the crossroads of Duddingston Road.
Thankfully, the staff member did not sustain any physical injuries during the robbery, but the traumatic incident left him shaken.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a slim to medium build. He was observed wearing a distinctive outfit consisting of a two-tone black and grey hooded zipper top, light blue Nike joggers adorned with a white motif on the left thigh, black and white Nike trainers, and carrying a cross-body black ‘man bag.’
Detective Inspector Kevin Tait of Edinburgh Division CID commented on the case, stating, “The member of staff has been left badly shaken by this incident, and it is vital that we trace the person involved.” He further added, “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the suspect in the surrounding area before or after the robbery this morning to please get in touch.”
Additionally, DI Tait urged motorists with dash-cams who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident to review their footage, as it may contain valuable information for the ongoing investigation.
