Road Flooded following burst main on Quarr Hill in Binstead Isle Of Wight

Part of the A3054 Quarr Hill, Binstead in Isle Of Wight has been flooded following the failure of a water main this morning. [data-ps-embed-type=slideshow] > iframe {position: absolute;top: 0;left: 0;}

_psEmbed(“https:///uknip.photoshelter.com”); A ruptured pipe has damaged the road and around 4,000 properties are experiencing a loss of pressure due to the incident and people in the Binstead and Ryde areas have reported experiencing poor water supply as hundred of litres pour down the hill. The failure has happened near the entrance of Quarr Abbey on the main road. A river a water is now flowing down one side of the road. A contractor has put out traffic lights and delays are building in the area. Specialist machinery has been brought in dig down on to the 9 inch main. Four homes have been left without water whilst the repair to the main is being carried out. A spokesman for Southern Water said that they have sent an engineer to site to carry out an inspection and arrange repair works. They have also changed the direction of the flow to home in the Ryde area. It is expected that the repair will be completed by this evening if all goes well with the repair.
