The volunteers of the RNLI Walmer Lifeboat station were called into action for the second time in as many days on Tuesday6th August 2024 when they were alerted to the disappearance of four young people in an inflatable on the River Stour.
At precisely 2:32 PM, the lifeboat crew was paged, and within twelve minutes, the D Class lifeboat, Duggie Rodbard II, was launched and ready to respond. The lifeboat navigated upriver, passing the notable landmark of Richborough Power Station, in a bid to locate the missing individuals.
Rapid Response
The swift response from the RNLI volunteers underscores their dedication and readiness to serve the community at a moment’s notice. The team meticulously combed the river, and prepared for a comprehensive search and rescue operation.
Safe and Sound

Return to Station
Following the successful resolution, the Duggie Rodbard II lifeboat made its way back to the station. The crew completed the operation and had the lifeboat recovered by 5:10 PM.
