The Diocese has paid tribute to Reverend Steve for his 35 years of dedicated service, most recently as Vicar of St James, Fletchamstead. Known for his popularity, good humor, and unwavering faith, Reverend Steve was also remembered for his active involvement with the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) and his worship ministry. His wife, Kathy, was equally revered for her work with CPAS, and together the couple ran an Alpha course that led to numerous baptisms and confirmations within their community.
Tragically, Reverend Steve and his wife Kathy were involved in a fatal collision on Wednesday, August 28, on Alma Street. The incident, which involved a grey Audi A8 and two pedestrians, occurred shortly after 2:45 PM BST. Despite the prompt response of emergency services, both Reverend Steve, Mrs. Burch, and the 81-year-old Audi driver were pronounced dead at the scene.
