The Kent Search and Rescue (KSAR) family is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated members, Sue Bedingfield, who passed away on December 23, 2023, following a brief illness. Sue was not just a member; she was the heart and soul of KSAR, having served as an operational member for over two decades, earning the distinguished number 056. As KSAR approaches its 600th member, Sue’s remarkable dedication and contribution to the team stand as a testament to her unwavering commitment.
Throughout her tenure with KSAR, Sue Bedingfield exemplified the true spirit of service, dedicating her time and energy to the organization’s mission with unwavering dedication. Her passion for search and rescue extended beyond her role within the team; she was also an enthusiastic advocate for community involvement and support.
Sue’s impact on the KSAR family was immeasurable, and her legacy will continue to resonate within the team. Her memory will serve as a guiding light, inspiring current and future members to uphold the high standards of dedication and service that Sue embodied.
Sue Bedingfield is survived by her loving husband, Richard, who himself was honoured as an honorary member of KSAR a few years ago in recognition of the incredible support that both he and Sue provided to the organization, especially during its formative years. This legacy of unwavering support and commitment is a cornerstone of KSAR’s history and will continue to be the foundation upon which the organization thrives.
In tribute to Sue’s memory and in acknowledgement of her immense contribution, KSAR members will provide a guard of honour at her funeral, scheduled for Monday, January 22, at the Margate Crematorium. This solemn gesture symbolizes the deep respect and gratitude that the KSAR family holds for Sue Bedingfield.
