Red Funnel Travel Advise over the Isle of Wight Festival period
Red Funnel has issued travel advice for those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight during the Festival period (20th-25th June). Thousands of people are expected to descend on Newport over the next 3 days for this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, meaning the ferries and roads will be much busier than normal. With the exception of Thursday 21st to the Island and Monday 25th to Southampton, there is good availability for vehicles and foot passengers on most Red Funnel sailings. Wednesday 20th June Southampton East Cowes – good availability all day. Additional 20:20 departure from Southampton (21:45 from East Cowes) Southampton West Cowes – good availability all day Thursday 21st June Southampton to East Cowes – sailings fully booked 05:45-18:00 inclusive. Vehicle space available 19:15-23:55. Additional 20:20 from Southampton (21:45 from East Cowes) Southampton to West Cowes – additional sailings at peak times (up to 3 per hour) to meet anticipated demand, travel on a first come first served basis Friday 22nd June Southampton to East Cowes – vehicle space on most departures from 05:45-08:00 inclusive and 16:00-23:55 inclusive. Fully booked 09:00-15:00 Southampton to West Cowes – normal timetable but with a last departure at 00:45 from Southampton (01:15 from West Cowes) Saturday 23rd June Southampton East Cowes – good availability all day. Southampton West Cowes – normal timetable but with last departure at 01:45 from Southampton (02:15 from West Cowes) Sunday 24th June Southampton East Cowes – good availability all day.
