A 21-year-old man has been slapped with a suspended jail sentence after a dangerous police Chasechase involving tailgating and speeding past an unmarked police car.
Tailgating and Overtaking in a 30mph Zone
Jake King, from Maunder Close, england/england/england/wincanton/”>wincanton/”>wincanton/”>Wincanton, drove like a maniac on the A30 near Ludwell on September 27th. Officers from the County Local Policing Tasking Team spotted King tailgating their unmarked police vehicle. But it didn’t stop there – King then sped past them in a strict 30mph zone, breaking the Lawlaw blatantly.
Multiple Offences Land Him in Hot Water
King’s joyride ended quickly when police pulled him Overover. Initially refusing to give his details, King soon admitted to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was also caught using false number plates and had a blade in the car – a serious offence.
Officers found his vehicle unroadworthy, with exposed tyre cords on the front tyres, and seized the car on the spot.
Sentence and Police Response
Swindon Magistrates’ Court sentenced King to five months in jail, suspended for 18 months. He must also complete 30 rehabilitation activity days.
“Despite driving on false plates and without both a licence and insurance, King drove very recklessly by overtaking what turned out to be an unmarked police vehicle in a 30mph zone. He was also found to be in possession of a knife,” said PC Hughes from the County LPTT.
“There is No Placeno place for this type of criminality in Wiltshire and we will continue to be robust with those found to be breaking the Lawlaw.”
Wiltshire Police are sending a clear message: reckless driving, forged documents, and dangerous weapons will not be tolerated on their roads.
