The QE2 Bridge at the Dartford Crossing was closed for more than three hours in the early hours of this morning following concerns for a woman’s welfare, police have confirmed.
The closure began shortly after 1:20am on Monday, April 14, when emergency services were alerted to the incident.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said:
“In the early hours of this morning, the Dartford River Crossing was closed as emergency services attended concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Thanks to the person who made the report, we were able to respond quickly and begin engaging with the woman.”
The QE2 Bridge, which carries southbound traffic from Essex into Kent, was fully shut while specialist teams worked to bring the situation to a safe resolution.
Incident Safely Resolved
Police confirmed that the incident was brought to a safe conclusion, and the woman involved was later left in the care of health professionals. The road was reopened shortly after 4:30am.
“Thank you to all motorists who were affected by the closure for your understanding and patience,” the spokesperson added.
The bridge closure caused temporary disruption, with traffic diverted through the Dartford Tunnel, which operates with lower height restrictions, affecting some larger vehicles during the early morning hours.
