In anticipation of Radio 2 in the Park 2024 at Moor Park, Preston, Jo Whiley will host a special live broadcast of her Radio 2 and BBC Sounds evening show from The Ferret, one of Preston’s iconic music venues, on Thursday, September 5th.
The two-hour show, scheduled from 7-9 pm, will feature an intimate audience of Radio 2 listeners and will showcase performances by three local bands chosen from BBC Introducing’s roster. BBC Radio Lancashire’s BBC Introducing presenter, William Wolstenholme, will co-host the event, which will also be simulcast on BBC Radio Lancashire.
Jo Whiley expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, "I’m super excited to get the party started in Moor Park ahead of the whole weekend of incredible live performances at Radio 2 in the Park as the city has a vibrant music scene with outstanding local talent."
Radio 2 in the Park, scheduled for September 6-8 at Moor Park, will feature performances from major headliners including Sting on Saturday and the Pet Shop Boys on Sunday. The festival’s lineup also includes Sugababes, Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers, and more.
A special Pre-Party will kick off the festival on Friday, September 6, where Radio 2 presenters will host a DJ stage for 5,000 attendees. Throughout the weekend, presenters will broadcast live from the event with full shows and sets available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer.
Tickets for Radio 2 in the Park are still available for Friday and Sunday, with the event promising to be a celebration of both local and renowned talent from across the BBC Introducing platform.
