Police have closed the A20 Ashford Road in both directions tonight and are urging members of the public to evacuate the area due to an ongoing incident near the Park Gate Inn. A number of vehivcle remain park just outside the inner cordon. We have not seen any armed officers within the location.
Officers at the scene are warning that remaining in the area could put people at risk, and are advising everyone nearby to move to a safe location.
A sergeant at the inner cordon at the Park Inn declined to give further details, citing the sensitivity of the incident. However, a large number of emergency vehicles remain parked across the road, enforcing the full closure of the A20.

Witnesses describe a significant police response in the area, including multiple marked vehicles and uniformed officers diverting traffic and passers-by this has been on going since 9pm on Monday 7th July 2025
