In a shocking incident, two prison officers lost their lives during an audacious attack on a prison convoy. The assailants, armed and ruthless, targeted the convoy on the A154 motorway in northwest France. Three other individuals sustained serious injuries in the violent encounter.
The Incident
At approximately 11:00am a group of armed men executed a brazen “ramming car attack” at a tollbooth along the motorway. The convoy, transporting prisoners, became the epicentre of chaos and tragedy. The attackers swiftly overpowered security personnel, leaving two officers dead and three others gravely wounded.
The Fugitive
The inmate at the centre of this mayhem managed to escape alongside the assailants. Authorities are now in pursuit, racing against time to apprehend the fugitive. Le Parisien newspaper reported that the prisoner fled the scene, plunging the region into a state of high alert.
Minister’s Response
French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti expressed his grief and concern. In a statement, he said, “A prison convoy was attacked in Eure. Two of our prison officers have died, three are seriously injured. All my thoughts are with the victims, their families, and their colleagues.”
