The Princess of Wales, Kate, will not be returning to public duties for the upcoming Colonel’s Review, according to official sources. It was suggested that she would be well enough to participate in the ceremonial military event, which traditionally takes place on 8 June in London, just ahead of Trooping the Colour.
As the colonel in chief of the Irish Guards, Kate would usually take the salute during the Colonel’s Review. However, her absence from public engagements has been notable since she revealed earlier this year that she was battling cancer and undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
In February, the Ministry of Defence appeared to confirm her attendance at the event, only to later retract the announcement from its website. Instead, the salute will be taken by Lieutenant General James Bucknall.
