Police Win Hide and Seek after falling to stop ends with Helicopter Chase

A-bike owner who led police on a high speed chase this afternoon has lost the game of hide and seek after laying down the gauntlet to the Isle of Wight armed roads policing and an asset from the national air support. Police gave chase after the vehicle made off and failed to stop for local officers on the Oakfield estate in Ryde just after 5pm on Thursday. The confused rider made off and abandoned his machine in an attempt to evade capture following a search from the air support and officers on the ground. Police seized the abandoned vehicle under section 165 of the road traffic act. Many residents in the Ryde area took to social media giving a detailed commentary of the helicopter’s location. NPAS Bournemouth later said: Thanks for your help earlier – it was hidden under a tree canopy??. Police later revealed that they had won the hide and seek challenge on twitter when the machine was recovered.
