Police in Peterborough have issued a CCTV image of a woman they wish to identify as part of their investigation into an attempted robbery that targeted a young boy. The incident occurred on Thursday, 2 May, at approximately 15:25 when a 12-year-old boy was assaulted while walking home from school.
The boy was traversing an alleyway adjacent to Churchgate, near New Road, when he was confronted by two women. Despite his resistance to surrender his mobile phone and school bag, he was subjected to physical violence, including being hit, punched, kicked, and knocked to the ground.
Fortunately, the assailants failed to rob the boy, who sustained only minor injuries from the encounter. The police are now appealing to the public for assistance in identifying one of the women involved, as captured on CCTV.
Authorities urge anyone who recognises the woman in the released image to come forward with information. Reports can be made through the police force’s website using the reference number 35/31127/24. For those without access to the internet, contacting the police via phone at 101 is recommended.
