Police were seen searching through thick undergrowth at Strood railway station last night, looking for a weapon used in a serious assault. Officers responded to reports that the item had been “thrown trackside.
British Transport Police and Network Rail workers assisted in the search efforts, which eventually led to the discovery of the weapon in the undergrowth.
British Transport Police posted pictures of the search on X this morning, writing: “Last night our officers were called to #Strood to assist @kent_police with recovery of a weapon used in a serious assault. The weapon was thrown trackside and a search team from @kent_police found the item in thick undergrowth. It is not yet known what type of weapon officers were searching for or if any arrests have been made.
