West Midlands Police have released CCTV images of a man they are seeking to identify in connection with a rape and an assault that occurred in Perry Barr during the early hours of Saturday, January 18.
Incident Details
- Rape Reported: Officers were called to Walsall Road near the One Stop Shopping Centre at approximately 01:50 GMT following reports that a woman had been raped.
- Second Incident: Shortly thereafter, a separate report was received regarding an assault on a woman on Aldridge Road.
Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked and are keeping an open mind as inquiries continue.
Suspect Description
The man captured in the CCTV footage is described as having short black hair, a slim build, and was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie at the time of the incidents.
Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Superintendent Adam Jobson of the force’s public protection unit urged the public to assist:
“If you recognise this person or if you were in the area between 1am and 2am and remember seeing him, please get in touch.”
He also called for anyone with dashcam footage or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area during the time of the incidents to contact the police.
