Detectives from the Roads and Traffic Policing team investigating reports of a sexual offence have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to. The assault happened at around 7pm on Sunday, 21 January on board a route 150 bus on Green Lane heading eastbound from Ilford Town centre. As the 26-year-old woman sat down near the back of the bus, the suspect got onto the bus near Ilford cinema and sat next to her. Once seated, he sexually touched the victim and only stopped when the victim shouted at him. The victim was able to capture an image of the suspect on her phone before he tried to cover his face and get off the bus three stops later. The suspect is described as an Asian man in his mid 30s with a dark beard and wearing a black beanie hat. He was seen wearing a black jacket with a purple inner lining, brown jumper over a light coloured shirt and carrying a black rucksack. Officers believe he is the same man suspected of a similar offence on 19 January 2015 at 5.50 pm on route 25 bus in Stratford. Detective Constable Julia Coney of the Met’s Road & Transport Policing Command said: “This man is sought in connection with a sexual assault incident on board at least two buses that we are aware of. We will not tolerate any form of sexual assault and strongly urge anyone who has been a victim of in this type of crime to call police and report it. “If you know who this man is, or may be able to assist us in our investigation, please call 101 and quote CAD 6414/21Jan18.”
