A police operation targeting traffic offences in Folkestone resulted in the arrest of two individuals and more than 20 motorists being reported for various driving violations. The operation, conducted by officers and members of the Kent Special Constabulary, took place on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, in the Sandgate Road, Park Farm, and town centre areas.

During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle in Middelburg Square. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly pursued and detained by police. The driver and his passenger, both local men in their 40s, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. Both have since been bailed while further investigations are conducted.

Throughout the day, 24 motorists were issued with Traffic Offence Reports for various infractions, including failure to properly secure children, speeding, having unsafe tyres, and using a mobile phone while driving. One vehicle was seized for being untaxed, and several drivers received advice on improving their driving and vehicle safety.

In addition, four vehicles with foreign licenses were issued fixed-penalty tickets for roadside stops and mobile phone use.

PC Kevin Marsh, who was involved in the operation, emphasized the importance of road safety, saying, “The consequences of collisions caused by dangerous driving and unsafe vehicles can be catastrophic for pedestrians and other road users. I urge everyone to make sure they comply with the law.”

Kent Police are continuing their efforts to monitor traffic and ensure compliance to improve road safety in the region.
