A 27-year-old police constable from Doncaster has been arrested on suspicion of blackmail, misconduct in a public office, and corruption. The arrest took place yesterday following a report to the force’s Professional Standards Department (PSD). The officer has been released on bail.
The alleged offences occurred while the officer was off duty but are related to her work within the policing role. The accusations involve deception for financial gain and improper handling of an investigation she was working on.
The officer, a member of a team in Doncaster, has been suspended from duties. An internal PSD misconduct investigation is underway concurrently with the criminal investigation. Detective Superintendent Delphine Waring, head of Professional Standards, emphasised the force’s commitment to openness and transparency.
“As a force, we remain steadfastly committed to being as open and transparent as possible about our professional standards. The public rightly expects the very highest standards from our workforce, and I assure members of our communities that these allegations will be thoroughly investigated,” stated Detective Superintendent Waring.
The investigation will determine the extent of the officer’s involvement in the alleged criminal activities. Detective Superintendent Waring assured that any officer found to be engaged in such activities would be dealt with appropriately, both through internal processes and the criminal justice system.
