Detectives Renew Appeals for Witnesses
The Metropolitan Police have officially named the 16-year-old boy who was shot dead in Stockwell, South London, on Tuesday, March 4.
The victim has been identified as Lathaniel Burrell, a teenager from Stockwell, who tragically died at the scene of the shooting on Paradise Road, SW4.
Police Investigation and Witness Appeal
Officers were called at 3:21 PM to reports of a shooting. Emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene and provided treatment. However, despite their best efforts, Lathaniel was pronounced dead.
His family is being supported by specialist officers as detectives work to identify those responsible.
Police Statement: ‘A Horrendous Crime’
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, leading the investigation, described the killing as a horrendous crime that has deeply affected the local community.
“This is a horrendous crime, which has shocked the local community and beyond. Our thoughts are with Lathaniel’s family and friends at this devastating time.”
“Our investigation is continuing at pace, examining CCTV and collecting witness statements.”
“We have deployed officers to the area on reassurance patrol and have officers engaging with local schools.”
Appeal for Information
Detectives are urging the public to come forward with any details that could help identify the suspect(s).
They are particularly interested in:
- Eyewitness accounts from those in the area at the time
- Mobile phone footage from local residents or bystanders
- Dashcam footage from drivers in the vicinity of Paradise Road
At this stage, no arrests have been made, and detectives say they are keeping an open mind about the possible motive for the attack.
