Police are appealing for information following a disturbing assault on a train driver during a journey from Saltburn to Darlington. The incident occurred on Friday, June 7 around 21:00 BST at Thornaby station.
According to reports, the train driver confronted a group of fare evaders and asked them to leave the train. As one of the individuals was exiting the train, he spat in the face of the driver while another member of the group delivered a punch to his head.
The unprovoked attack has left the train driver shaken and with minor injuries. British Transport Police have released images of individuals they believe may have vital information that could assist in their investigation.
Members of the public who recognise the individuals in the images or have any information regarding the incident are urged to contact British Transport Police immediately.
