A suspected cocaine dealer has appeared in court after a police dog uncovered class A drugs in a car near Sittingbourne.
On Sunday, 29 December 2024, officers on patrol stopped a VW Passat on Avenue of Remembrance, suspecting the driver was involved in drug supply. The driver was detained for a search, during which a mobile phone was seized. Police Dog Charlie was called in to inspect the vehicle.
PD Charlie’s keen nose led to the discovery of a cigarette packet containing 25 wraps of suspected cocaine hidden behind a door panel. The driver was immediately arrested.
Additional Searches
Further investigations led officers to a house near Sittingbourne, where they seized £1,710 in cash, some cannabis, and bags of white powder suspected to be cocaine.
Charges and Court Appearance
Andre Mehmetaj, 26, of Blossom Street, Sittingbourne, has been charged with the following:
- Being concerned in the supply of cocaine
- Possession of cocaine with intent to supply
- Possession of cannabis with intent to supply
He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 31 December, and has been remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, 27 January 2025.
