The Metropolitan Police Service has since launched an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
In an effort to gather crucial information, the police are offering a substantial reward of up to £20,000 for any leads that may lead to the arrest, charge, and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Roy Bigg. Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, emphasised the importance of public assistance in solving this baffling case.
“Although our investigation and previous media appeals have shed some light on Roy’s life, we still need your help to identify who is responsible,” said DCI Kelly Allen. “Roy went missing in February 2012, and it is believed that his body may have been in the freezer for a number of years. We estimate that he was around 70 years old when he died. The question remains, where was he between 2012 and 2021? So far, there have been no confirmed sightings of him during this nine-year period. Can you help us fill in the gaps?”
The post-mortem examination conducted on Roy’s remains proved inconclusive, leaving investigators without a clear cause of death. However, dental records were crucial in confirming the identity of the deceased.
Detective Chief Inspector Allen urged anyone who had any knowledge of Roy Bigg or his whereabouts to come forward. Whether it’s a small detail or a significant piece of information, anything could prove invaluable in piecing together the puzzle and uncovering the truth.
