City Police are seeking to reunite stolen mobile phones with their rightful owners after recovering 24 devices believed to have been snatched in the City or West End on March 26.
The appeal comes in the wake of an arrest made outside the Bank of England on the same day, during which officers apprehended a suspect and seized a significant number of mobile phones.
Sonny Stringer, a 28-year-old resident of Islington, has been charged with nine counts of theft, one count of robbery, dangerous driving, and driving without motor insurance. Stringer has been remanded in custody pending his appearance at Isleworth Crown Court on April 22.
The investigation revealed that two suspects were captured on camera riding electric motorcycles, believed to have been used in the phone-snatching incidents. CCTV operators diligently monitored the suspects and promptly alerted officers, resulting in one arrest.
