Urgent Appeal for Information
Police are urgently appealing for the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Mataya, who has been missing since March 26. Concerns for her welfare are growing as she has not been seen for over a week.
Mataya was last spotted on March 26, and since then, there has been no contact or sightings reported. Police describe her as approximately 5’9″ tall, with a slim build. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a beige hoodie, light-coloured trousers, and beige Crocs.
She is known to have connections in East London and Essex, and authorities believe she may be in either of these areas.
Police Statement and Public Support
A spokesperson for the police stated:
“We are increasingly concerned for Mataya’s welfare and are doing everything we can to locate her. We urge anyone who has seen her or may know her whereabouts to contact us immediately.”
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have spotted her or has any information that could assist the investigation to call 101, quoting reference 176 of 26 March.
The public response has been one of concern and support, with social media users sharing the appeal widely. One user on X posted:
“Please help find Mataya. Every share could make a difference. Let’s get her home safe.”

Charities like Missing People UK are urging the community to stay vigilant and to report any sightings.
“If you see someone matching Mataya’s description, even if you’re unsure, please report it to the police. Every piece of information can be vital,” said a charity spokesperson.
