Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after receiving new information about a fatal crash in Dundee in 1989 that claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy.

Danny Leech tragically died after being struck by an HGV on Arbroath Road on Friday, September 8, 1989.

New Developments

In June 2024, Danny’s family provided police with new details about the incident, prompting officers to launch a comprehensive review of the case. As part of their investigation, road policing officers have carried out a site visit and a reconstruction at the scene of the collision.

Inspector Roy McCarney, leading the inquiry, said:

“We are thoroughly reviewing the new information provided by the Leech family. As part of this process, we have revisited witnesses who previously gave statements to police. We urge anyone who may have seen the crash or has any additional details, no matter how small, to come forward.”

Family’s Appeal for Justice

The Leech family issued a heartfelt plea for assistance:

“This appeal is on behalf of the Leech family, in the hope that after all these years someone will come forward to give information, no matter how small or seemingly trivial, which will allow the authorities to come to a proper conclusion in their investigations, securing justice for Danny and closure for us all.”
