Police are investigating a suspicious incident that took place at Exhibition Fields in Exeter on Thursday, February 27, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Incident Details
Officers were called to the park between Exhibition Way and Beacon Heath at approximately 2:45 pm after reports that a man approached a mother pushing her children in a pram and assaulted her before leaving the scene.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm that day.
Police Reassure Public
Detective Inspector Dave Ireland acknowledged that incidents like these can cause concern but emphasized that they are rare:
“Understandably, incidents of this nature can be distressing and cause concern within the community. Fortunately, they are rare.”
“Members of the public will see an increased police presence as enquiries are continuing.”
Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Investigators are particularly interested in any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or suspicious activity in the area.
A man in his 30s from Exeter has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
