Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Newport that left a man in his 70s in hospital.
The incident occurred at around 2.19pm on Thursday, 17 April, on St James Street, near the McDonald’s restaurant, and involved a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Corsa.
Emergency services attended the scene, and the injured man was transported to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition, according to police.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have launched an investigation and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
A police spokesperson said:
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of St James Street at the time of the collision to get in touch. If you saw what happened or have any footage that could assist our enquiries, please contact us."
The force added that even small details may be crucial to the investigation.
