Merseyside Police are seeking witnesses following a shooting incident in Walton, Liverpool, on Saturday evening, September 7. Officers responded to reports of property damage and gunfire on Helena Road at approximately 11:55 PM.

Upon arrival, officers found evidence consistent with shots being fired at a residential property. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the severity of the situation has prompted a full investigation by local authorities. Two unidentified males were seen fleeing the area shortly after the disturbance.

A fire was also set at the scene, which was quickly extinguished by the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. Police have since established a cordon around the property on Helena Road as forensic teams examine the area. Officers are conducting door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage from the neighbourhood in an attempt to gather more information.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Stratton, who is leading the investigation, said, “We are in the very early stages of an investigation into this incident and are appealing to anyone who was in the area around midnight or who witnessed the incident to contact police.”

DCI Stratton emphasized the reckless nature of the crime, adding, “Firing a gun in a residential street is extremely dangerous. Thankfully nobody was injured, but this could have led to more tragic circumstances.”

Local residents have been urged to check their CCTV, dash cam footage, or any doorbell recordings for any suspicious activity that could aid in the investigation. DCI Stratton added, “Any information you provide, however insignificant it may seem, could be vital to our investigation.”

Merseyside Police have reiterated their ongoing commitment to cracking down on gun crime in the region. “There is no room for guns on the streets, and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” DCI Stratton declared.
