Authorities in Glenrothes have launched an appeal for information following a reckless incident involving a small tyre set ablaze and thrown onto a road. The incident occurred on Monday, September 25, around 19.50 BST on Western Avenue. Youths were observed tossing an item from a wooded area onto the road before hastily fleeing the scene.
A concerned motorist who witnessed the event reported seeing the burning tire bounce across the road. Additional reports indicated that the item remained on fire at the roadside.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service promptly responded to the incident and successfully extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no vehicles sustained damage during the incident.
Community Sergeant David McCabe expressed grave concern, stating, “This was a reckless act and is being treated with the utmost seriousness. It is very fortunate that no one was injured.” He further added, “Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are following a positive line of inquiry. We believe the youths made off in the direction of Collydean.”
Sergeant McCabe emphasised that such behavior is unacceptable and urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward. This includes individuals who may possess dash-cam footage relevant to the incident.
