Ofsted Suspends Registration Citing Risk of Harm
Ofsted confirmed it had suspended the nursery’s registration from 3 July to 13 August 2025, stating that continued childcare provision at the setting “may expose children to a risk of harm”.
“The purpose of the suspension is to allow time for enquiries to be made and steps to be taken to eliminate or reduce any risk of harm,” Ofsted wrote.
“Pitta Patta Day Nursery Limited must not act as a registered childcare provider while suspended.”
The temporary suspension will be reviewed before 13 August and could be lifted, extended, or lead to cancellation of registration, depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
Legal Implications for Operating While Suspended
Ofsted reminded the nursery that continuing to provide registered childcare during a suspension is an offence under the Early Years and Childcare Registers.
If the registration is ultimately cancelled, it will apply to all locations covered under the same registration.
“If we consider that the provider is no longer suitable to provide childcare, we may take steps to cancel the registration while the suspension is in place,” the watchdog confirmed.
