This is the first picture of six-year-old Chamiah Brindley, the young girl who tragically lost her life in a devastating house fire in Leicester. The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, also led to the arrest of a 14-year-old girl on suspicion of arson. The teenager has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
Chamiah, seen smiling in family photos, was described as a “beautiful” and “angelic” child by heartbroken neighbours and relatives. Her mother, Tracey Moore, 38, is said to be devastated by the loss of her youngest daughter. Ms Moore, a mother of 10, was described as being deeply devoted to Chamiah, who was adored by her large family.
Chamiah’s uncle, who lives across the street from the cordoned-off home, spoke through tears, saying, “My little niece died; we’ve lost her in the fire. It’s my sister’s house. What’s happened is awful.”
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 4:08 am on Tuesday. While several family members were taken to the hospital as a precaution, Chamiah sadly did not survive. Forensic investigators are combing through the remains of the house, while police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
Friends and neighbours in the tight-knit community of Mowmacre Hill have been offering their support to the grieving family. One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said, “It’s a terrible thing to happen. Chamiah was such a sweet little girl, and her mother adored her. The entire community is heartbroken.”
Another neighbour described waking to the sound of commotion and the sight of flames. “Some of us tried to help get the family to safety, but there were scenes of hysteria. It was awful,” they said.
As investigators search for answers, floral tributes have begun to appear outside the house. Among them are cuddly toys, flowers, and heartfelt messages, including one that reads, “Rest in peace, beautiful little girl. Taken too soon.”
Leicestershire Police have said they are keeping an open mind while they investigate, working closely with fire officials to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire. Detective Inspector Michael Chandler described the incident as “extremely tragic.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward
