A person has been rescued following a fire at a residential flat in Almond Court on Woodmill Road, Hackney, this evening.
London Fire Brigade have sent four fire engines and crews to the scene after receiving reports of a boiler alight on the first floor of a flat at around 6:20pm. The incident, prompted an urgent response from the emergency services and a 32 metre aerial ladder being sent to the scene.
The fire broke out at Almond Court, with firefighters swiftly attending from local stations to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of residents. One person was reportedly inside the property and has since been brought to safety.
The fire, believed to have originated from a domestic boiler, was under control by the time of this report, though crews remain on scene for damping down operations and safety checks.
No injuries have been officially confirmed at this stage, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Residents in nearby flats were briefly evacuated as a precaution, and London Fire Brigade has urged the public to ensure regular servicing of domestic heating appliances, particularly boilers, to prevent future incidents.
A fire investigation team from the London Fire Brigade is now working to determine the exact circumstances of the blaze.
