One Person Dead after Explosion in Lincoln

Emergency services are currently in attendance at the scene of a fire in De Wint Avenue, Lincoln. Reports that one person has died  after what resident describe as an explosion taking place. Lincs Fire and Rescue  received a  call  about  at around 4.30pm. Initial reports indicate the fire is at the front of the former Co-op building also know  locally  as the resource center on De Wint Avenue in the Moorland area of Lincoln Some residents have reported hearing an explosion at the property and than a  fire  ball shooting out the front of the windows. Neighbours ran for cover and raised the alarm as the fire ball ripped through the property Police, Ambulance, and Fire and Rescue Service are all at the scene dealing with the incident. The exact circumstances are not yet known, nor if  anyone else  has been injured. Road closures are in place in the area and around Shannon Avenue, Boswell Drive and Webster Close. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes if possible. Police have cordon off both ends of the street  and  People are waiting anxiously for news. Two men have been treated for burns and smoke inhalation. A Massive clouds of smoke and flames can be seen bellowing from the building. Here’s what we know so  far: There are 8 Fire appliances fighting a building that is well alight using 3 jets and three hose reels The Fire still burning on ground floor of building,  Six firefighters  wearing breathing apparatus are using 3 main jets and  1 hose reel are attempting to gain control of the fire and stop it from spreading to adjourning building. They are using a thermal imaging camera in an attempt to fire the seat of the fire. Two people are being treated at the scene of a fire. It is believed that there was four people in the building at the time  and officers are still looking for one person at the property. Fire Fighter have  also recovered a number of animals from the property: They have been brought out in cages including a dog, a chinchilla and a guinea pig. Over 50 firefighters  battled  to bring  the blaze under control  the blaze has  damaged a shop premises at the ground floor of the building, as well as the flat upstairs. A spokesman for EMAS  said: “There was some kind of explosion. The fire is above shop. ” We have treated Two patients at the scene we have sent a number resources to the scene we  have  also got  a “Basic”  doctor  as the scene as well. Dave Gilbert  for Lincs Fire and Rescue, said:  "The fire has now been brought under control. We have 50 firefighters at the scene and other support staff. We are likely to remain  at the scene for a number of hours.  Mr Gilbert was unable to give a cause of how the fire start but did say that they would be working with there partners Lincs Police  who are leading the investigation "
