In a shocking turn of events, North Wales headteacher Neil Foden, aged 66, has appeared in court facing grave allegations of child sex abuse. Foden faces multiple charges, including sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15, sexual communication with a child, adult abuse of a position of trust, and sexual activity with a girl aged 13-17.
Foden held the prestigious position of Executive Member for Wales at the National Education Union (NEU) before the allegations surfaced. Following the charges, he has been suspended from all of his roles by Cyngor Gwynedd, the local council authority.
The court proceedings took place in Llandudno, where Foden was remanded in custody by magistrates pending further legal action. North Wales Police have made a public appeal, urging anyone with information that may assist their ongoing investigation to come forward.
A spokesperson for Cyngor Gwynedd stated, “We have been notified that a member of staff of a Gwynedd school has been arrested and charged by North Wales Police and has since appeared before the court. In accordance with the school’s employment procedures, the individual has been suspended from his post until all the investigations have been completed. We can confirm that all relevant child protection procedures are being followed. The Council will not be making any further comment while these processes are ongoing.”
The NEU, to which Foden was previously affiliated, declined to provide any comments on the matter but did confirm that Foden is no longer a member of their union.
Neil Foden is scheduled to appear at Caernarfon Crown Court on 9 October
