BBC’s hit series “Paranormal” is back with a new twist, and this time, it’s all about UFOs. Building on the success of the first series, which garnered over 2.7 million streams on BBC iPlayer, Radio 1’s Sian Eleri is set to embark on a journey into the uncharted territory of extraterrestrial encounters.
Sian Eleri, known for her inquisitive and investigative approach, will delve into a remarkable chapter in Wales’ history during the 1970s and 1980s. During this time, numerous individuals from various walks of life, residing in cities, seaside towns, and rural villages along the south and west coast of Wales, reported a surge of baffling and spine-tingling UFO sightings and related phenomena.
The second series promises to be an exhilarating exploration of the unknown, as Sian tracks down eyewitnesses, dedicated researchers, and skeptics, all in pursuit of unraveling the truth behind these extraordinary events.
Sian Eleri shared her excitement about the upcoming series, stating, “A second series is upon us! It’s been so eye-opening to investigate such open-ended issues, with series one raising questions challenging my own beliefs, so I can’t wait to get started on the next celestial adventure. The world of UFOs, extraterrestrial activity, and other theories around what exists in our skies is vast, so who knows what we might discover? I’m intrigued to find out.”
This series follows in the footsteps of “Paranormal: The Girl, The Ghost and the Gravestone,” where Sian explored an allegedly haunted farmhouse in north Wales. Once again, her natural skepticism will be put to the test.
Clare Sillery, Head of Documentary Commissioning for the BBC, expressed her enthusiasm for the new series, saying, “It’s been great to see how our audience enjoyed the first series of Paranormal. I’m delighted Sian Eleri will be returning – this time for a dive into the weird world of Ufology.”
Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning at BBC Wales, echoed the excitement, stating, “Our nation’s obsession with all things paranormal is confirmed with our smash hit first series. Why wouldn’t we go again? This time to outer space, and if some of the rumours are to be confirmed and the archive believed, Sian’s about to uncover an extraordinary true story…or is she? This is what we love about this series, and BBC Cymru Wales is right behind (the sofa) as Sian and her team take us on another terrific adventure. You couldn’t make it up.”
“Paranormal” series 4 x 30”, produced by Twenty Twenty Television for BBC Three, BBC One, and iPlayer, was commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller Youth Audience (BBC Three and BBC iPlayer), Clare Sillery, Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, and Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Wales. The series is helmed by Director of Programmes Ruth Kelly, with Jo Hughes as the Executive Producer, Rory Jackson as Series Director, and Hannah Horan as Series Producer.
As the anticipation builds, viewers can prepare for a gripping journey into the enigmatic world of UFOs with Sian Eleri at the helm. “Paranormal: UFO Investigations” is sure to captivate audiences with its pursuit of the unexplained and the extraordinary.
