The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is mourning the tragic loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy #302, who was killed in the line of duty today after being struck by a snowplow while responding to a crash on Interstate 80.
Incident Details
Preliminary investigations indicate that Trooper McAcy, alongside other troopers, was responding to a traffic accident on I-80 near mile marker 424, between Ashland and Greenwood, when the fatal incident occurred. While outside of his patrol vehicle, he was hit by a passing snowplow.
Despite immediate efforts by fellow troopers to render aid, Trooper McAcy succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office has been tasked with leading the investigation into the crash.

In a heartfelt statement, Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, expressed deep sorrow over the loss:
“Our NSP family is devastated today. Kyle was a dedicated trooper, a devoted public servant, and most importantly, a good friend to many in Omaha and beyond. His loss is being felt by countless people. Please keep his family, friends, colleagues, and community in your hearts as they deal with this unimaginable loss.”

Trooper McAcy, 31, was a ten-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, having graduated from Camp 56. During his service, he held various roles, including:

He was stationed in Omaha and was highly respected by his colleagues and the community he served.
