A 20-year-old man remains behind bars following a violent incident in Melksham where two women were hurt.

Police Swarm Scene After Serious Stabbing

The drama unfolded around 5.30pm on Saturday (14 March) at Cotswold Close, off Westbury View. Emergency services rushed to the spot after reports of a serious disorder.

About 15 police officers flooded the area and found one woman had been stabbed. Another woman suffered a wrist injury.

Brave Local Helps Nab Naked Suspect

Ambulance and critical care medics from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance treated the casualties at the scene. Meanwhile, the suspect, who was completely naked, tried to flee but was tackled by a local resident on Blackmore Road.

The 20-year-old was arrested and taken into custody. He remains held this morning on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police Investigation Continues

A police cordon kept the area sealed for around an hour before being lifted at 6.30pm. Detectives focused their inquiries on two homes in the cul-de-sac.

“A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a disorder in Cotswold Close, Melksham at about 5.30pm yesterday (14/03),” said a Wiltshire Police spokesperson.

“A woman has been treated for superficial stab injuries, and another woman was treated for a wrist injury. The suspect remains in police custody.”
