A murder investigation is under way after a 26-year-old man died following a stabbing in Kingsbury, North West London, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Fatal Stabbing on Kingsbury Road

Police were called to reports of an altercation on Kingsbury Road, NW9, at 3:31am on Sunday, 18 May 2025. The victim was rushed to hospital with a stab wound but, despite the efforts of medics, he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A formal identification and post-mortem examination are yet to take place.

Murder Investigation Under Way

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched, with Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo of the Specialist Crime Command leading the inquiry.

“Our team of detectives and forensic specialists are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to the tragic death of a young man,” said DCI Bhangoo.

“We understand this incident will cause concern within the Kingsbury community, and we’re grateful for their continued patience and co-operation.”

DCI Bhangoo added that residents can expect a heightened police presence in the area as investigations continue. The crime scene remains cordoned off, and Kingsbury Road is closed between Uphill Drive and Church Lane.

 

 


 

 

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the attack.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Kingsbury, known for its quiet residential streets and diverse population, has seen sporadic knife-related incidents in recent years, with local leaders calling for more youth outreach and early intervention measures.

On X (formerly Twitter), local residents expressed alarm. One user wrote: “Woke up to sirens and a police cordon on Kingsbury Road. Terrifying to hear someone lost their life.” Others shared frustration about the ongoing knife crime epidemic in London.

Road Closures

As of Sunday afternoon, Kingsbury Road remains closed between Uphill Drive and Church Lane, with TfL advising motorists and bus passengers to use alternative routes. Expect delays in the area throughout the day.
