A murder investigation is underway following the death of a man who was seriously assaulted in Rotherham in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 June.
South Yorkshire Police were called to the scene at 12.18am after reports of an altercation involving several men in a car park on Drummond Street. Emergency services discovered a man with severe injuries upon their arrival. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead earlier this morning.
The identity of the deceased is currently unknown, and efforts are being made to identify him and notify his relatives.
In connection with the incident, a 36-year-old woman and three men, aged 37, 26, and 45, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A police cordon remains in place at Drummond Street as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood, Senior Investigating Officer for the case, expressed his understanding of the community’s distress and assured that detectives are working diligently to uncover the events leading to the man’s death. He also emphasised the ongoing efforts to identify the victim.
For community reassurance, additional police patrols are being conducted in the area. DCI Wood encourages anyone with concerns to approach officers at the cordon for support and advice.
