A murder investigation is underway after the body of a man was discovered at an address in Homerton Road, E9, on Monday morning.
Police were first alerted to the incident when a man in his 50s attended a local police station shortly after 10:00am He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Investigation and Police Response
Officers, alongside the London Ambulance Service, attended the scene where they found the body of a man believed to be in his 60s. Authorities are currently working to formally identify him and inform his next of kin.
Investigators have confirmed that both men were known to each other, and they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident at this time. Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
Police Reassure Community
Acting Chief Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher, responsible for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, acknowledged the impact the incident may have on the community: “I know this will be distressing for local residents as well as the wider community. There will be an increased policing presence in and around the location in the coming days.”

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances of the man’s death.
