Nottinghamshire Police have launched a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing in Bulwell that occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Cinderhill Walk at around 1:45pm after reports of a serious assault. A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 33-year-old woman also sustained injuries during the incident; her condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Two men, aged 30 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remain in police custody.
Investigation Underway
The investigation is being led by Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, who described the event as “devastating” for the victim’s loved ones.
“We understand the concern this will cause the local community. However, we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public,” she said.
A police cordon remains in place at Cinderhill Walk, and forensic teams are focusing their efforts near a block of flats within the cul-de-sac as they piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police Response and Community Reassurance
Assistant Chief Constable Suk Verma offered his condolences to the victim’s family and acknowledged the impact this violent crime has had on the local area.
“We know how shocking this will be for residents. Two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident was reported, and we are doing everything possible to support the ongoing investigation and reassure the public.”
As part of the response, increased patrols have been deployed in Bulwell to maintain a visible police presence and provide reassurance.

The murder has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents describing their alarm at the police presence. One local parent said:
“It’s scary – we walk down this road every day. You just don’t expect something like this to happen so close to home.”
