Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the tragic death of 37-year-old Kirk Marsden in Blackburn on Christmas Day.
Police were called at 4:48 PM to reports of an altercation outside The Gate Street Bar and Grill, located on the corner of Moorgate Street. During the incident, Mr. Marsden was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser, suffering multiple serious injuries. He was transported to Royal Preston Hospital, where he sadly died in the early hours of Boxing Day.
Arrests Made
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody:
- A 58-year-old man of no fixed address
- A 31-year-old man from Bolton
The Toyota Land Cruiser involved in the incident has been recovered from a car park on Brindle Street, Blackburn, as part of the ongoing investigation.
Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Bryony Midgley of the Force Major Investigation Team is urging the public to assist in the investigation:
- Anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or Ring doorbell footage capturing a silver Toyota Land Cruiser on Livesey Branch Road and Brindle Street between 4:48 PM and 5:00 PM on Christmas Day is asked to come forward.
- Witnesses who were at The Gate Street Bar and Grill during the altercation, or anyone with mobile phone footage, is also encouraged to contact the police.
"This incident has led to a man losing his life. Our thoughts remain with Kirk’s loved ones," DCI Midgley said. "We are treating this as an isolated incident and making good progress with our enquiries. I would like to reassure the community that we have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance."
