Emergency services have responded to a mass stabbing incident at a Walmart Supercenter in Traverse City, Michigan, with multiple victims reported and a suspect now in custody, authorities confirmed Saturday evening.
The violent attack unfolded just before 5 p.m. local time at the store located off Crossing Circle. Grand Traverse 911 issued a public alert urging people to avoid the area while emergency services were on scene. Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
At Least 7 Injured, Some Critically
Initial reports suggest at least seven people were stabbed during the incident. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as multiple ambulances and dozens of police units descended on the store. Tourniquets were reportedly applied at the scene to treat serious injuries.

Suspect in Custody

In a statement posted on social media, Grand Traverse 911 said:
Please avoid the area of Walmart or other businesses at Crossing Circle. First responders are on scene. There is no danger to the public at this time.”
Law enforcement officials are expected to hold a press briefing later this evening.
